Let’s pause for a second and ponder how far we’ve come.
Technology has grown vastly and science seems to be presenting a new topic weekly: that’s the science geek in me coming out. Can you imagine what the world will look like in the future: if there is still going to be a “world.” The ways things are going right now the pessimistic side in all of us sees the world ending soon. Still, I can’t help but wonder when I’ll be able to buy a hoverboard or breathe underwater. Education has drastically changed for the new generation growing up, some things for the better and some for the worst. How do you manage to teach your children in a world that is constantly changing? What morals and trades do you want them to adapt? The internet by far has done the most change; it was a simpler time with dial-up back in the days. Now, everything is uploaded and streamed across the country from little devices we hold in our hands. I remember flip phones and I don’t know about anyone else but I never used the internet on it, even though it did have it. Times have changed, but is it for the better? Social media has caused a shift in our viewpoints: we sell ourselves more short now. The growing number of black women deaths in the maternity ward is stifling, makes you rethink having children to be honest. The amount of deaths by the hands of people who are meant to protect is unsettling, your slogan is “to protect and serve,” there’s no protection. For centuries people have been belittled because of their race, sexuality, gender, and wealth: we still haven’t grown after all these years; desensitized. We face a huge crisis across the world and from the distant you can see who truly benefits from all this: small business are forced to close or limit their numbers, while the big corporations slightly downsize but stay open. Us on the bottom are forced to wait or survive by another means until “help” comes. Tsk.
Nonetheless, the world is growing for small business, many people’s dreams are coming true because of how the world has grown. The social world has grown immensely that anyone with a hard dedication can make a profitable business. You just need to put your best foot forward. A growing number entrepreneurs are taking over the world with brilliant ideas: apps, gadgets, wholesale websites, skin care, fitness, food, hair/nails, and custom printings. This is the time to become the first millionaire in the family. If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. The world also slowly becoming more self-aware, educating ourselves about what’s truly around us. You call them conspiracy theorists because they think outside the box but what should they call you for being so naïve? I’m not saying all theories are correct but as someone who’s CONSTANTLY called a conspiracy theorist: maybe you should do more research. The world isn’t taking no ones crap anymore and I like it. It’s time we realize that we actually run the show. OUR actions are what determine the course of life; if we all decided to live more at peace, things wouldn’t be so chaotic right now. People are slowly starting to love themselves and each other more. The motivation you see in people who have been called names about their weight, age, height, skin, or disabilities is beautiful to watch. Owning your essence and living with peace about who you are is truly something magical, especially if people support you too.
With that being said, let’s talk about us. Me the writer and you the reader. Oh how life has done its due diligence on me. I’ve been through some truly traumatic life lessons and started to give up more times than I can count, but I’m here. We are here. Mediate on the beauty of that. There’s more to what we see in front of us, we just got to breathe. We lean too much on a higher being if I must say bluntly. I am not saying not to because I love my some GOD! My point is this: the heavens can bless us only so much, the rest is up to us. You have got to wake up, push yourself to your goals, and receive the blessing. Oh it’s hard, I know: I can type till kingdom come but I’m still struggling to wake up and be motivated, that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped. Sometimes you have to pause in your busy day and just ponder how far you’ve come and where you are trying to go. Evaluate the things you want to change for the better in your life and surroundings and change them. I’ve incorporated a new thing for myself: ten minutes of mediation everyday for a month, next month 20, following month 30, straight until the end of the year. Taking a moment to just mediate, becoming one with myself and leaving all the stress behind for a moment. It’s important to remember to take time out for yourself, I know life can get busy with work, school, loved ones, religion, and more but remember to acknowledge yourself in the process. Acknowledge that you are tired, stressed, bored, happy, sad, enlightened, sick, healthy, strong, weak, or brave: acknowledge all you’ve done and give yourself praises. Pat your own back. Acknowledge your downfalls and strengths, your surroundings, your hopes, and your goals. Remember why you wake up everyday for work, to take care of the kids, to go to school, or simply just remember you woke up today.
Mediate and Evaluate.
